Gunter has many hobbies.

For many decades he has been diving and has logged 1954 dives so far.  That is by far not all he has done, because before 1984 dives did not need to be logged.  His activities under Water include videography and photography.  He has sold many films and pictures.  At Seaspace, the largest under water convention in the world, he has received three first places in "Underwater Video Production".

One of his favorite hobbies is bridge.  He plays 3-4 times a week in several clubs and has attended the American and German championships, and even made the front cover of the German bridge magazine.   He also spends time teaching bridge to beginning and advanced students.

In his basement, a large model train setup is growing.  It is a setup with mountains and valleys, cities and villages, rivers and lakes.  His favorite activity here is landscape modelling.  This setup is digitally controlled by a fast computer and can run 17 trains simultaneously.
